Quality repairs for student through professional flutes.
At Sweet Sounds Flute Repair, I specialize in flute repair services ranging from minor adjustments to complete overhauls. I am dedicated to restoring your instrument's sound and playability, ensuring you get the best performance possible.
Katrina Cruess is a flute repair technician located in Bedford, NH. She first began her career in flute making at the Wm.S Haynes Flute company in 2013 as a flute finisher. While working full time, she also earned her master’s degree in music education, with flute as her primary instrument, at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2015.
At Haynes, she learned how to polish and finish a new flute to be ready for the professional flute player. Katrina also worked on the Haynes student and step-up model flutes. She worked at Haynes until 2021 and subsequently moved on to a flute finishing position at Burkart Flutes and Piccolos.
At Burkart, Katrina had the opportunity to continue honing her skills as a professional flute maker as well as learn new skills. She learned how to lead solder and was also tasked with completing COAs, overhauls, and other flute repairs. Katrina also spent time working on Burkart’s Resona student model flutes. She also expanded her skill set by learning to pad Burkart professional piccolos.
Katrina stepped away from Burkart in 2025 to raise her infant daughter and 12-year-old son. She enjoys hiking the White Mountains with her husband, riding horses with her mother, and endurance running. She is also a professional bean to bar chocolate maker and can be followed on social media @EnbarrChocolate
Katrina is experienced with Straubinger, Pisoni, and felt pads, and has a vast knowledge of the inner workings of the flute. Her goal is to continue helping the flute community by servicing both student and professional flutes as she raises her young family alongside her husband. Katrina enjoys the challenges and problem solving that comes with working on flutes and strives to bring the Sweet Sounds back to your beloved instrument.
